What exactly is the importance of the year 1999 and the number 19 in the dark tower books?
I think that one thing that 1999 might mean has to do with the ending of the dark tower(which surprisingly I thought was very good).I could be very wrong in saying this.Could you guys help me out here.
When Stephen King re-released the first book in the series (with several changes to align better with the later books) he included a Forward that exlains 19 in better datail. It's been awhile since I read it, but I seem to recall something about how long it had been since he'd started the series, and about looking back on his youth. More specifically, he said something about the age of 19, where you still feel invincible, but that this was roughly the age when death, while not quite knocking on your door, was at least in the neighborhood asking around about you. 1999 was significant because it was the year he very nearly was killed in an accident.
