What should I discuss when describing the French language?
I am writing a research paper on the French language and I have included a brief history of it's evolution from the 1500's to present. I just don't know what to write about when describing the vernacular. Please, I need some suggesions.
Check out the books by Henriette Walter. She is a linguistics professor at Rennes university in Brittany and has written some very interesting books on the french language. You can certainly grab some inspiration there.
"Le français dans tous les sens" is one about the evolution of french and all the foreign, regional and slang influences that are important to the evolution of the language
"Honni soit qui mal y pense : L'incroyable histoire d'amour entre le français et l'anglais" about the links of english and french. Both languages borrow a lot from the other.
